The proliferation of multimedia devices and networks has led to an explosion of digital media content being created, resulting in large personal and public multimedia databases in which it has become increasingly difficult to retrieve specific content and browse the large collections. Advances in computing technologies also have brought dramatic improvement in collecting, storing and sharing personal information among government agencies and private sectors. From the use of sophisticated pattern recognition in surveillance video to the simple browsing of personal images or videos ¨C people become increasing demand of the management technologies of their multimedia data: Multimedia Contents Analysis and Applications. Even though the research on Multimedia Contents Analysis technologies began many years ago, most of the existing schemes are inadequate for current multimedia applications.
This workshop aims to provide a technical forum for researchers from academy and industry to discuss the advances and challenges of information processing, analysis, retrieval, security and privacy protection for multimedia applications, bring together research work in the area of multimedia content analysis and applications, investigate the novel solutions and discuss the future trends in this field. We welcome papers that address fundamental research issues in this challenging area, with emphasis on multimedia content analysis and applications. We also encourage papers to report on system level research related to multimedia and cross-media analysis and applications.A number of invited papers will also be solicited.
